What is it about?

An excerpt of a 2013 press release:

“Threadbare” follows the life of Kirsten Nyberg. An idyllic rural upbringing is suddenly quelled when her older brother Lars is accused of a crime. His defense goes unheard by their community and church. Innocent behaviors are interpreted as validation of the accuser’s slander. Already wounded, the Nyberg family is rejected by the very people relied on for help.

Kirsten candidly discloses all that she unearths in her encounters with defamation, betrayal and deception: painful truths, freeing insights, healing, wisdom, unexpected spiritual experiences and the friendship of God. Ultimately, she depends on her creator to fight the battles, and in time, realizes that the most skilled and cunning of deceivers are no match for truth and the timeless statutes of God.

“Threadbare” serves to inspire people and engage action towards greater harmony, empathy and acceptance of others. It energizes readers to embrace a vision of what could be in a relationship with God and people, and instills hope of future possibilities. It guides victims of maltreatment toward dignity, recovery and restoration.

Cindi Gale graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Following graduate school at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, she worked as a physical therapist, most recently in the pediatric setting. She lives in the American Midwest, not far from the family farm where she grew up.
